Dub rises with Sly & Robbie

Good

Reggaemani

After Underwater Dub and Dubmaster Voyage comes Sly & Robbie’s third dub album this year. It’s titled Dubrising and is mixed by Paul “Groucho” Smykle, who is probably best known for Black Uhuru’s The Dub Factor, released in 1983.

In a press release the album is described as “taking you back to the golden age of dub” and being “heavy as lead, yet musical and refined”. And just as Dubmaster Voyage it features dub versions of tracks by Bunny Rugs, Horace Andy and Chezidek, among a few more.

Dubrising drops in November and will initially only be available on vinyl. In addition to the 33 RPM edition, a limited audiophile version will be available on a double 45RPM 12″ pressed on heavy 180g vinyl.

Check how it sounds below.

Video: Chronixx – ‘Capture land’

CaptureLand_Instagram_612x612
Fresh off the heels of an 22 date European & UK tour, a sold-out show at Central Park’s Summer Stage in front of 6,000-plus, and an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Chronixx releases a brand new video for “Capture Land,” one of the standout cuts off his chart-topping Dread and Terrible EP.

Presented by LRG and premiered via Complex, the visuals find Chronixx and company in his homeland of Jamaica, as director and frequent TDE collaborator Jerome D. follows the rising star through a day in the life on the island that raised him. Powered by fluid performance shots and beautiful cinematography, the video is a fitting portrayal of Chronixx—and a snapshot of the lasting effects of colonialism on the land—to be enjoyed by old and new fans alike.

Scandinavia Reggae Festival
